Shirley Learn

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Shirley Learn, our new Interim Instructional Program Manager in Business!

Shirley has history with FSCJ. In 1985, she began as a student. After graduating in 1987, Shirley continued her studies and graduated from the University of North Florida. After working for Daniel Kids Inc., for six years, she decided to stay home to care for her six children. Even as a stay-at-home parent, Shirley continued to work as a volunteer with the Clay County Schools, Parent Faculty Associations, Girl Scouts and several church organizations.

When her youngest entered kindergarten, Shirley began working at Florida’s First Coast YMCA. There, she was a Yoga Instructor and worked as a supervisor in the Kid Zone. Shirley quickly worked her way up through management to the position of Family Program Director. Additionally, she served on the Boards of several animal rescues. Shirley later went on to work with for profit organizations, and soon realized she wanted to complete her Ph.D. in Human Services. Currently, she is ABD and working on completing her dissertation. After serving as an adjunct for several years, she served as interim full-time Professor of Business while Dr. David Fish was on military leave. Shirley has been nominated as Distinguished Faculty at FSCJ. Through her time in teaching at FSCJ, she has realized that helping students achieve their educational, career, and life goals is her true calling. Please join us in congratulating her and welcoming her to this position!
