Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Kalia Toro-Sepúlveda, our new Professor of Humanities!

Kalia Toro-Sepúlveda began her humanistic studies at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, followed by a Master's in Art History with a concentration in Architectural History; and another in American Studies with a concentration in art, culture and critical theory, both from State University of New York at Buffalo. She further pursued her interests in Caribbean Cultural Studies in her doctoral work at the Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, in San Juan. Most recently, she has been a participant of New York University's Faculty Resource Network for two consecutive years. 

Her current academic interests include - yet are not limited to - art/architectural history, the classics, reception theory, critical theory, cultural and international studies, history, and languages. She has also collaborated with different communities, being a member of Lions Club International, and as part of the Board of the Incubator of Creative Industries of Mayagüez, where she was also Research Coordinator.

In her spare time, Dr. Toro-Sepúlveda enjoys traveling, experiencing good wine, good food, and good company. She also likes to further explore a wide range of creative work, including dance, fashion, and photography.
