Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Talani Torres, our new Dean of Humanities! 

Talani has been serving as Interim Dean of Humanities since May of 2018 and her effective leadership has ensured the ongoing operation of the department. She earned her MFA in Dance from the University of NC at Greensboro, her BA in Psychology from Florida International University, and her AA from Miami Dade College. Talani has been with FSCJ since the fall of 2011, serving as First Year Advocate, Professor of Dance, and Director of Dance. Accomplishments include starting the Get Moving, FSCJ! Campaign to promote wellness through movement, selection as a finalist in Ovation TV's One Dance One Chance Scholarship competition for choreography, and earning Top Paper Citation from the National Dance Education Organization for co-authoring So We Think We Can Learn: how student perceptions affect learning.

Prior to coming to FSCJ, Talani earned the Access Award for advocacy for students with disabilities at Meredith College, a NC Dance Alliance Choreography Fellowship, and a United Arts Council of Raleigh Project Grant. Talani owned her own dance studio in Miami for ten years and ran the non-profit, Miami Children's Dance Ensemble. Her influential leadership, positive outlook, and dedication to students, faculty, and our institution have already had a positive impact.
