 Julie Sutton, originally from Australia has worked in the USA since 2002. She has a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry from the University of Sydney and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Canberra. Julie has combined her love of science and management throughout her professional career, initially in the field of forensic science where she led the Forensic Biology Unit at the Australian Federal Police.

Interim Director of the FSCJ Honors Program

With twenty-four years of service in higher education, Alison—or, Ali, as she prefers to be called—has worked at Jacksonville University, the University of North Florida, and Nova Southeastern University. Ali possesses an extensive background in honors education. For eight years, she served in the University of North Florida’s Honors program, which later became the Hicks Honors College. During her tenure in the UNF Honors program, she worked as Honors Program Admissions Coordinator, recruiting a diverse body of academically talented students. She also served as Honors Program Academic Advisor—a role in which she hired, trained, and supervised both assistant and peer advisors; provided academic guidance to honors students; created the university-wide honors class schedule; and managed the honors scholarship budget. While working in the University of North Florida’s Honors program, Ali taught several interdisciplinary (IDH) honors courses.

New Academic Department Coordinator in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Leticia Gallardo, our new Academic Department Coordinator in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction!

 Native to Mexico, Leticia worked as a Bilingual Secretary in English and Spanish early in her career. Since starting at FSCJ in 2007, Leticia has served in several roles. In addition to working as an Administrative Specialist and a Technology Specialist in Financial Aid and Scholarships, she served as a Project Coordinator in Campus Operations at the South Campus. Leticia enjoyed working in the Financial Aid and Scholarships office where she and her colleagues helped students to achieve their academic goals. She also thrived when serving in the fast-paced Office of Campus Operations for which she coordinated multi-faceted projects.

New Dean of Humanities

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Talani Torres, our new Dean of Humanities! 

Talani has been serving as Interim Dean of Humanities since May of 2018 and her effective leadership has ensured the ongoing operation of the department. She earned her MFA in Dance from the University of NC at Greensboro, her BA in Psychology from Florida International University, and her AA from Miami Dade College. Talani has been with FSCJ since the fall of 2011, serving as First Year Advocate, Professor of Dance, and Director of Dance. Accomplishments include starting the Get Moving, FSCJ! Campaign to promote wellness through movement, selection as a finalist in Ovation TV's One Dance One Chance Scholarship competition for choreography, and earning Top Paper Citation from the National Dance Education Organization for co-authoring So We Think We Can Learn: how student perceptions affect learning.

New Professor of Logistics

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to John Jinker, our new Professor of Logistics!
Dr. John Jinkner is a near-native of Jacksonville, FL with an AA from FSCJ, a BBA, BBS and an MBA from UNF and a DBA from JU. With over 20 years of transportation and logistics related experience, Dr. Jinkner’s interests include logistics research and big data, and in 2019 he secured an $8 million federal grant for a northern railroad. Professor Jinkner has taught management, marketing and logistics classes in the U.S. and in China for over 15 years and was invited to teach the Capsim Capstone business simulation at Harvard Business School in 2009 & 2010.
