Author Series Announcement


We’re excited to announce this year’s Author Series book!  Dr. Damon Tweedy will be joining us March 20th and 21st to discuss his memoir, Black Man in a White Coat: A Doctor's Reflections on Race and Medicine.  Dr. Tweedy is an associate professor of psychiatry at Duke University School of Medicine and staff physician at the Durham Veteran Affairs Health System. 

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK:

In Black Man in a White Coat, Dr. Tweedy describes the many barriers minorities face for access to quality health care and higher education.  The book is one of Time Magazine’s top ten non-fiction books of the year and a New York Times best seller.  The text brings several important social issues for discussion including the racial inequities of medicine and higher education.
